US petrochemical giant ExxonMobil (Houston, Texas; www.exxonmobilchemical.com) has announced the launch of a polyethylene grade designed for the production of thin-gauge hand wrap stretch films. The new product can incorporate PCR loadings of 30% or more while maintaining processability and film quality, the company said.
The Enable 1617 polyethylene grade offers high-melt strength, high-flow attributes, and high tenacity, which can result in fast line speeds, low pressure, and low motor load for cast film processing, ExxonMobil added.
Film properties can be affected by the quality of PCR content incorporated into the material, but the Enable 1617 resin can help maintain acceptable film properties for the application without the need to up-gauge, the company said.
