Compound with 65% PCR developed for automotive interior

Olefins and polyolefins major Borealis (Vienna; www.borealisgroup.com) has announced the launch of Borcycle GD3600SY, a 30% glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene compound with 65% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. The compound is part of Borealis’ Borcycle M portfolio of advanced mechanically recycled polyolefins.

The compound is initially to be used in the production of centre console carriers for the new Peugeot 3008, by Dutch automotive manufacturer Stellantis (Hoofdorp; www.stellantis.com), marking the first instance of a compound with 65% PCR PP being used in series production for large automotive interior applications, said Borealis.
